All Live Tree Biomass on Timberland, 2007


This map shows the spatial distribution of all live tree biomass in 2007, in million tons by county. There is roughly 25.5 billion tons of live tree biomass or about 51 trillion pounds of live tree biomass.

Use this map only to identify broad spatial trends. At the time of
assessment, data were not available for interior Alaska, the Pacific Basin, Puerto
Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, and a small number of counties in the lower 48 states.

Biomass is defined as the total aboveground, ovendry weight for live sample trees 1.0 inch diameter or larger, including all tops and limbs (excluding foliage).
