All Live Merchantable Tree Biomass per Acre of Timberland, 2007


This map shows the spatial distribution of all live merchantable tree biomass in tons per acre of timberland by county. On average, by county, there are roughly 30 tons of merchantable biomass per acre of timberland.

Use this map only to identify broad spatial trends. At the time of assessment, data were not available for interior Alaska, the Pacific Basin, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, and a small number of counties in the lower 48 states.

Merchantable biomass is defined as the total ovendry, gross biomass (including bark) of a tree 5.0 inches DBH or larger from a 1-foot stump to a minimum 4-inch top DOB of the central stem.
